Emmanuel returned to winning ways in the Derby City League after coming from behind against local rivals Castle Donington in a fine match on Wednesday night. Donington began very well and were lively up front but it was Emmanuel who came closest early on as Smithson's shot hit the bar and the Donington keeper pulled off a brilliant save to tip Aning's header over the bar. Donington then produced some excellent football to take the lead. The church side came back well, though, with Cole and Smithson combining well on the left and Sharp a threat on the right, and Emmanuel finally got the break they deserved as Smithson's header found Aning in the box who finished coolly. Half time saw Etherington on for Cole and his pace would trouble Donington for the rest of the game. Indeed, with Large superb in midfield and Watkiss and Arme in command at the back Emmanuel began to dominate and create a string of chances. The ball, though, would just not go in - first Etherington hit the post, then so did Walker before Lewis hit the bar direct from a corner. Just as it looked like it might not be Emmanuel's day Walker produced a stunning 30 yard shot to give Emmanuel the lead. Then with 5 minutes to go Walker bagged his second after being played though by a Lewis header.
Day; Watkiss, Arme, Riman, Cole (Etherington); Sharp (Frutuoso), Large, Schad, Smithson (Lewis); Aning, Walker.
