UNDER 10 MATCH REPORT: Peartree Allstars 1 - 4 LEFC

Loughborough Emmanuel under 10’s continued their unbeaten run with a hard fought 1-4 victory over a big physical Pear Tree side.
Emmanuel started steadily but were aware that Pear Tree had improved dramatically since they last met and the early pressure led to a free kick which was rifled in and a ricochet off of a couple of defenders saw the ball nestling in the bottom corner to give them an early lead.

Emmanuel started to play some good football with a neat passing game a couple of chances fell to Mohammed Eljaf and Murray Leishman, but Pear Tree cleared their lines. Cameron Hales pulled off a couple of fine saves and Byron Pratt and Will McLeod started tackling like demons to keep Pear Tree at bay. Good work in midfield from Sam Cosgrove and Robert Cusick who fed Eljaf who rocketed his shot in for the equaliser. It wasn’t long before he was away again Pratt broke up an attack fed Leishman whose through ball saw Eljaf leave the defence in his wake for his second.

As the second half got under way Eljaf with his confidence high tried an elaborate lob from the edge of the area and with Hales pressuring the keeper the ball was judged to have crossed the line for his hat-trick. McLeod and Pratt were mopping up at the back and defending like Trojans as Pear Tree looked for a way back. Isaac Frost came on to inject some pace into the Emmanuel attack and went close on a couple of occasions.

It wasn’t long before Leishman had teed up Eljaf again and he didn’t disappoint applying a sublime finish for his fourth goal of the game. Leishman and Cusick both had good shots cleared off the line. Rueben Hollington ably replaced McLeod in defence, as Emmanuel looked to close out the game and after a heavy challenge on Frost, George McCague made a cameo appearance in midfield. As the final whistle sounded Emmanuel were deserved winners and remain proudly on top of the league.

Man of the Match Byron Pratt
