We got changed in a small cage and tramped across the Somme, past a burger wagon onto the pitch and then...it didn't happen. It just didn't happen, we couldn't hit the back on the net. There were several things to contend with such as missing key squad members Jabed, Joe and Dan. Captain Isaac limped off after 5 minutes and the referee was awesome. Regardless of these irritations we had enough chances to win the game but just couldn't put the ball away. The negative was the failure to deal with high balls into the box which led to all three of Strettons goals, a free kick (Rob went walkabout), a corner (please kick the ball away from the goal) and a cross (no closing down and everybody ran under it). So, with that out the way, lets talk positive.
- Patryk, played sweeper 1st half and was excellent. The leader at the back we've needed. Can be our Beckenbauer.
- Jubed, had to play left wing back with Joe and Dan absent and was outstanding, man of the match. I think playing with wing backs will suit Jubed, he can get up and down the touchline as he pleases now and when we see him in the opposition penalty area we'll know that he's supposed to be there.
- Another goal for Alex, that's 20.
- A good debut from Luke who signed this week. Hopefully Luke will enjoy being part of the Emmanuel family and progress with us. He joined a team that's full of character and fights for each other. I think he'll fit right in. Welcome Luke.
- The spirit on the pitch. I didn't see any heads drop, just the determination rise when we were up against it. We didn't fold, we fought and although we couldn't turn the result around we stuck up for each other and showed a great team togetherness. Top Class.
So, what did we learn.
- Shut up around referees. If they are looking for a reason, don't give them one and once they've made a decision, right or wrong, it won't change, so best accept it and carry on.
- We must take our chances when we get them, we could've had that game won in the first half.
- We don't like getting changed in cages.
- Isaac is actually human and can be injured although there may have been Kryptonite on the pitch.
- Rob doesn't always cry when we lose.
- Toby likes to worry us by scoring or trying to score own goals.
I don't care that we lost yesterday. I did yesterday, and most of last night but now I'm thinking about next Saturdays cup match against Long Eaton. Life's about taking the defeats on the chin and getting up again. Yesterday has gone, let's think forwards.
Goal: Bucknor
Man of the Match: Jubed Rahman
Front Row: Jubed, Jordan, Noddy, Tobes.
Starting 11:

In reply to Lukes thread....
I really must stop following you as we both nearly ended up at Willington Power Station, i can get lost without your guidance as proved when i left you behind and did two laps of Stretton village! So i made it 105 roundabouts before the destination...!
We just didnt have our shooting boots on yesterday and if we had we would have beat a team with 11 boys a referee and a linesman on there side! Cant fault the ref, he was just looking after his sons better interests on the right flank! Could we complain about the goal dissallowed for offside, only if we used the offside rule!
Could we fault anyone for looking for the burger van when the first goal went in....?
In Patryks best english...chill out man!
Take the positives, the never say die attitude & the fact we are as good as any teams in this division to the cup game next week and lets book ourselves a place in the semis!
The only downside from yesterday in my eyes was it cost Patryk nearly as much to chill out as it did to fit 14 players, 2 kit bags, a coach and a manager into a 6ft square cage that resembled something from a animal testing lab!
Onward we go lads....and YES we are proud as always.
Rik
lol
i just wanna say that the ref. was
horrible and he should be working in african leage, chinese, or even polish leage, not in the awsome english leage..
i cant belive he gaved me a yellow card for saying:
".. chill out man.."
to the player...
and is everythIng arrite with isaac??
i feel so so so soory for him, he just played 5 mins.... ;(:(
we need u isaac!!
I think we obviously have a feeling of injustice, but these things happen in life and we must use it as fuel for our fire rather than allowing these things to dampen our spirits. Like I said though, we only have ourselves to blame ultimately as we missed enough chances to bury Stretton in the first half alone and with our shooting boots on it could've been 8-3 to us. It's happens to every team, so it's nothing new.
im pretty sure i had my shooting boots on .....
lol
john (;
Shame you had a back like an old man though, lol
