UNDER 18 MATCH REPORT: Toton 4 - 4 LEFC

Emmanuel travelled to the top-of-the-league Toton and produced an excellent performance to claim a fine away point. Toton began very brightly producing excellent football but with Emmanuel's whole defence standing tall and Cole outstanding at left-back Emmanuel more than met the challenge. Gradually Large and Schad began to win ball in midfield and then, at the ten minute mark, Pownall produced a fine run before setting Etherington free on the right who fired home brilliantly. Toton came back strongly and soon equalized to set up another tight phase of play. It was therefore a huge blow to the church club when Smithson had to hobble off. He was, though, replaced by Aning who began the second half by simply muscling his way into the box before blasting the ball into the roof of the net. A few minutes later and Etherington produced a fine long-range shot which the Toton keeper could not hold. Emmanuel then made it 4-1 as Pownall latched onto a fine Walker pass to beat the Toton keeper in a one-on-one. However, with 30 mins to go against the best in the league, Emmanuel knew there was still much work to do, and so it proved as Toton gradually came back into the game with two goals to make it 4-3; however, with Arme, Tyrer and Riman holding firm and man-of-the-match Day superb in goal and the clock ticking down Emmanuel looked like they would claim the win when, with literally five seconds, to go Toton squeezed the ball home to equalize. As soon as Emmanuel kicked off the referee blew for full time. Emmanuel came off disappointed but to be disappointed with a draw away at the league leaders is a good sign.
