UNDER 10 MATCH REPORT: LEFC 2 - 4 Mickleover 95 Rams

Loughborough Emmanuel returned to action for the first time in seven weeks with a cup match against Mickleover 95 Rams. Emmanuel knew they had their work cut out against a team who boasted 2 players who had scored 42 goals between them. It was Mickleover who started the brightest passing the ball around and at times making Emmanuel chase shadows.

Good defending from Will McLeod, David Aryeetey and a couple of fine saves from Sam Cosgrove kept Rams at bay. Isaac Frost used his pace and tested the keeper with a stringing shot. It didn’t take long before the pressure told and Emmanuel found themselves 3-down at half time.

The team talk wasn’t pretty but it seemed to do the trick. Within 50 seconds good work from Nathan Walsh, Cameron Hales and Mohammed Eljaf saw Byron Pratt steam in to pull I back. This seemed to lift everyone and Ejaf then fed the Cameron Hales who drilled in his shot with great aplomb. Mickleover looked like they may fold, Eljaf went close Aryeetey and McLeod were not giving them a sniff. The Loughborough fans were getting excited sensing a Liverpool esque comeback willing the lads on. Pratt ran himself to a standstill and was replaced by George McCague.

Hales made 2 goal saving tackles Cosgrove made a couple of fine saves, Eljaf was causing panic in the Rams defence, McCague was terrier like in the tackle, unfortunately a break away goal in the last minute gave Rams some breathing space.

Emmanuel did everyone proud and the Rams management admitted it was their toughest test so far this season; the final result Emmanuel 2 Mickleover 95 Rams 4

Man of the Match David Aryeetey
