DERBY CITY LEAGUE UNDER 18 LEAGUE CUP: Castle Donington 0 - 4 LEFC

Emmanuel are off to Derby County's Pride Park Stadium for the Derby City Leag Cup Final. They booked their place for the April showpiece after an excellent semi-final against a strong Donington outfit. The opening exchanges were predictably tense and Donington went close with a fine header but Emmanuel then began to get on top with Sharp and co. strong at the back, Smithson influential on the left and Walker dominant in midfield. And it was Emmanuel who took the lead as Etherington produced a fine header to score from an equally fine Sweet free-kick. Emmanule then doubled their lead as Etherington followed up a Pownall flick to score from close range. Emmanuel could and should have added to their lead but had to be content with a 2-0 half-time lead. The second half began as cautiouslys as the first and when Donington won a penalty it looked like they would come right back into the game; but, fortunately for Emmanuel, the penalty hit the bar and flew over. Emmanuel responded well and soon won a penalty themselves which Sweet coolly dispatched. Aning then added a fourth with a fine shot to seal the game. There was, though, still time for Lewis and Frutuoso both to go close before the final whistle. Emmanuel can now look forward to the trip to Pride Park, but first they will want to reproduce this form in the league.
