UNDER 18 MATCH REPORT: LEFC 1 - 2 Hilton Harriers

Emmanuel and third-placed Hilton together produced an excellent game that was a wonderful advertisement for the Derby City League , a game in which both team played polished, passing football. Emmanuel began superbly well and got their reward when Large fired home from the edge of the box after a sweeping five-man passing move featuring the skilful Smithson and the giant Aning. Hilton then came back well playing some equally good football. Emmanuel's defence appeared, though, to be more than equal with Riman and Tyrer and co. standing firm, and behind them keeper Day in fine form; indeed, it took a wickedly-deflected shot to beat Day. The second half was equally good with both teams conting to play excellent football; it was, though, Emmanuel who, with captain Pownall and top-scorer Walker lively up front and debutant Frruostos tricky on the wing, made the best chances It was, therefore, very hard on Emmanuel that Hilton took the lead as a half-cleared corner hit the excellent Arme and went in for an unlucky own goal. Emmanuel were not, though, finished and came back strongly with Cole prompting well from left back and Schad working well in midfield; however, despite producing two or three more good chances Emmanuel could not quite get the equalizer they deserved

Day; Tyrer, Arme, Riman, Schad; Etherington (Frutuoso), Pownall, Large, Smithson (Cole); Aning, Walker. Subs: Watkiss, Lewis, Hurrell.
