UNDER 18 MATCH REPORT: Castle Donington 1 - 2 LEFC
Emmanuel secured another three vital points as they overcame a fine Castle Donington outfit in the Derby City League. Donington began really well and were soon one up as Emmanuel failed to deal with an early corner. However, Arme and Riman gradually got to grips with things at the back and Emmanuel slowly came into the game. Indeed, they thought they had got the equaliser when Walker headed on a fine Smithson corner but the ball did not quite cross the line. Emmanuel did, though, get the equalizer when Pownall skillfully fired home from the edge of the box. With minutes to go to half-time the church side got their second as Frutuoso scored neatly after fine work from Walker. The second half was a tense, tight affair with few chances. Emmanuel did though create some half-chances down the right where Hurrell and Sharp combined well; and again Emmanuel thought they had scored when Etherington's brilliant free-kick hit the cross bar and fell to Sweet to knock across the line; however, a second ball had just strayed onto the pitch and so the free-kick had to be taken again. The game ended with Donington creating considerable pressure and Emmanuel, with Cole on for Sweet, had to defend well and as a team; this they did to close out a fine game between two excellent and well-matched local clubs.
