UNDER 15 MATCH REPORT: LEFC 4 - 2 AFC Denby

Emmanuel shock off the dissapointment of last weeks poor display against Toton with a hard fought victory over a very strong Denby team in very poor conditions. Emmanuel started well and took the lead through Captain Isaac Timson's perfect freekick. With the wing against him Timson guided the ball into the top left hand corner beyond the grasp of the Denby keeper. 1-0. The first half continued to go end to end, with both teams creating some good chances but neither able to finish. Then with the half nearing it's end Emmanuel conceded after a good strike from distance and a little extra wind power took the ball over Rob Barrow. Cue mardy face. 1-1 at Half Time.

The second half belonged to Emmanuel with excellent performances from Jubed Rahman and Luke Gee in particular who combined to take Emmanuel into the lead. A powerful run from right back and some nice interplay with Bailey saw Jubed break into the box and square the ball to Gee, who netted with a composed finish. 2-1. After that the game was very much a battle with both teams defending well and creating little until Denby equalised with a fine finish from just outside the area. 2-2. Failure to track back from midfield had cost Emmanuel the lead, but that would not be the case for long. As Denby pushed for a winner Emmanuel stayed calm and trusted in their ability to create something. The breakthrough came from a corner where Captain Isaac was left completely unmarked to head in his second of the match. 3-2. Denby kept pushing but failed to score and Emmanuel finished the game off with a 4th goal from Gee which saw him score direct from a corner as the wind assisted and left the Denby defenders unable to read the flight of the ball. 4-2. As the game finished Emmanuel took great pride in overcoming a strong team and some difficult conditions.

There were some fantastic performances, Jabed, Noddy, Jubed, Isaac, Luke and Bishal all worked hard for the win, with Trebski putting in the miles as usual. Grainger was solid at the back and Rob kept goal fantastically. John worked hard upfront and was unlucky not to score as his effort was cleared from the line. Jordan had some nice moments on his return to the team and Sam, Joe and Taku all contributed to a battling display. Man of the match however was Dan Callan who worked tirelessy at left back and broke up many of the Denby attacks.

Well Done lads, let's keep this effort up and use this victory as a starting point for a good season.
