UNDER 10 MATCH REPORT: LEFC 3-3 Heanor Juniors

Loughborough Emmanuel under 10’s continued there unbeaten start to League action with an excellent 3-3 draw with last years Champions. Heanor Juniors went into this game having scored 18 and not yet conceded a goal. Emmanuel were up for it from the start and with the wind whipping across the pitch were holding there own.

Good defensive work from Will McLeod and George McCague, saw the ball fall to David Aryeetey, a deft touch saw Rob Cusick in the clear he hit an unstoppable shot that got a slight deflection and Emmanuel were one up. Mohammed El Jaf was running his heart out up front ably assisted by Sam Cosgrove they were holding Juniors at bay a couple of good saves from Cameron Hales and all was looking good.

It wasn’t long before Emmanuel succumbed to the relentless pressure and Juniors drew level with a well worked goal, another excellent interception from McCague gave Juniors a corner their centre half ghosted into the box to thunder a header into the net. It wasn’t long before another lapse at the back saw an unmarked Juniors player smack in their third.

Emmanuel did not let their heads drop and it wasn’t long before McLeod normally the rock at the back unleashed a fierce volley from the edge of the area and although the keeper got a hand to it, it went in. Emmanuel brought on Murray Leishman to help bolster the midfield and it was a surging run from him and a pull back from Eljaf that again found McLeod who struck the ball sweetly and again the keeper could only push the ball into the net 3-3.

The second half started and the wind had changed direction it was now at Heanor’s backs giving them a great advantage, but Emmanuel stood firm with Reuben Hollington a rock at the back, Nathan Walsh solid in midfield and Isaac Frost making his debut in attack giving the Juniors defence a torrid time at the back. Cosgrove had moved into goal and pulled off a couple of stunning saves. The wind was so strong it actually blew the goal over. In the dying minutes Eljaf was clean through with Hales in support but his shot drifted agonisingly wide. Emmanuel fought to the end and came away with a deserved point.

Man of the Match Will McLeod
