UNDER 18 MATCH REPORT: LEFC 6 - 1 Barton Rovers

It was Leicestershire versus Staffordshire in the Derby City League as Emmanuel took on a battling Barton Rovers. The church side were fully stretched in the opening stages as Barton pressed hard and the Emmanuel defence had to be strong , and this they were with Eccleston and debutant Tyrer both excellent. Gradually, however, with Sharp lively on the right, Emmanuel began to dominate and force a string of corners, and it was from two fine Smithson corners that Emmanuel scored their opening two goals - as first Powell headed in and then Schad fired home. The third goal came just before half time as Large forced an error in the Barton defence and the ball ended up in the back of the net. The second half began with Rovers once again pressing well but Emmanuel still looked dangerous and finally made it four as Powell's shot went in off Aning. Barton did then score through a freak own goal but this only spurred Emmanuel on and with Hurrell on as sub up-font Emmanuel hit two late goals - first through a Lewis corner and then through a fine Aning solo-effort.
