Well, it's about 10 weeks away but we can't wait for the new season to kick off and there have been some dramatic changes to the league format next season.
Firstly, John Schad, Dave Day, Ashley Riman and the under 18's (last seasons under 16's) will be playing in the newly formed under 18's division along with Barton, Castle Donnington, Derby Singh Brothers, Field Lane, Ilkeston Town, Sherwin, Hilton Harriors, Pastures Youth and Toton Tigers.
Myself and Ed's under 15's team will remain in the 2nd Division, however this will be made up of 7 teams including AFC Denby, Castle Donnington, Heanor, Mickleover 95, Stretton and Darley Abbey Colts. The teams will play each other 3 times in what organisers believe will be a more intense and competitive format. The old 1st Division will now have 12 teams with Mickleover 95 Utd, Field Lane, St Georges, Barton and Toton having been promoted and Mickleover Sport Junior mysteriously vanished.
Finally, pulling the shortest straw is Andy Duxbury's under 12's who have been deemed worthy enough in the new format to take their rightful place as the only Emmanuel team ever to play in the 1st Division. In there with the big boys Andy's team will compete against Allestre Junior Colts, Chelleston, Codnor, Ilkeston Athletic, Mickelover All Stars, Ripley Town and TS Sports.
So, as the start of the new season draws nearer let's enjoy training, get fitter, get better and get hungry for the battle.
