UNDER 14's MATCH REPORT: Barton 2 - 1 LEFC

A result at Barton could've seen us powering for fourth place especially with Barton already conceding their final game next weekend due to lack of players. Instead we threw away a lead, played poorly and with results going against us in other matches we can't even finish 5th. The best to hope for now is 6th and if we are to achieve that we must beat the 2 other teams in direct rivalry with us for that spot, Toton and Mickleover 95.

I said after the match that we were awful, I think I used another word actually but lets go with awful for now. The contrast between the limp and lazy performance of yesterday and the exhilarating football of a week earlier is quite amazing. We failed to create anything going forward and made only 2-3 chances. However if Isaac could've found the bottom corner early in the second half then maybe things might have been different result wise, but not performance wise.

I was really fed up on Saturday but as me, Noddy, Jabed and Jubed watched the under 16's fight strongly against West Hallam in the Cup Final and waited in anticipation every time Adam, Rob or Dan ran to collect a ball in the hope that one of them would fall over I was just thankful that we are all part of this special squad in a special club. The Emmanuel support dwarfed that of 1st Division West Hallam with everyone proud to be there and cheer on the Emmanuel team. So on reflection my response to Saturday is sod it. Let's look at the positives...

1- We are miles better than last season
2- Everybody has improved as players
3- The squad is a happy and close one.
4- We're all pretty good looking.
5- We're getting a mint new kit that'll be better than anyone elses.
6- We've played some great football
7- Jubed's own goal, that was funny!
8- Adam got his 1st goal for the club
9- I think that training session we had in the mud was awesome (LOL @ Rik)
10-Chill Out Man

Maybe on Saturday we tried too hard and actually forget what we were doing, there was a lot of indecision when closing players down. There is one basic rule to remember: IF THE OPPOSITION HAVE THE BALL AND YOU ARE THE CLOSEST PLAYER TO THE BALL THEN YOU CLOSE THEM DOWN. DON'T WORRY ABOUT LEAVING THE MAN YOU'RE WITH BECAUSE HE HASN'T GOT THE BALL. SOMEONE ELSE WILL PICK THAT PERSON UP WHEN YOU GO TO CHALLENGE (HOPEFULLY, PLEASE).

Anyway, we've got 2 games, 6 points and 6th place to secure but most importantly we just need to enjoy the last 2 games and put down a marker for next season. I expect hard work in training on Wednesday and Saturday and I know that everybody else was as disappointed as me to lose but at least you guys can get on the pitch and put it right. So let's get to it.

Goals: Dan Callan (We'll give it to Dan)
Toby of the Match: Jabed- played like Rio Ferdinand

Back Row: Sam, Ed, Luke, Mike, Rob
3rd Row: Jubed, Patryk, Luke G, Toby
2nd Row: Adam, Joe, Noddy, Dan
Front Row: Alex, Isaac, Jack

Great match report, and the best team photo seen all season.
Dad will be very proud to have had a mention.

Thats the best write up of the season!! And the word you left out was *C**p*!

There is no doubt in my mind that we can and will win those last two matches, we have shown how far we have progressed over the year and we are now a force in this division. Looking at who's coming down this year and obviously pending on who brings in who over the summer, we could well be fighting for one of the top spots next season, we are capable on our day of matching and beating any team in this division.

From a parents perspective, i am very proud of my own son and also the whole squad in what you have achieved this year. Very well done to you all.

Although its not quite the end of the season yet and we may manage to change some of these, here are my nominations for the following....

1: OWN GOAL OF THE SEASON...Jubed, not funny on the day but looking back just pure magic as the ball drifted over Robs airkick. Closely followed by Toby's

2: SAVE OF THE SEASON...Rob's penalty save againt Mickelover 95 Utd at home, took him weeks to shut up about it and he was given his accolade of "Safe Hands"

3: GOAL OF THE SEASON...Jack's against Toton at home in the league match as the movement of the whole frontline sent us fans into a frenzy which resulted in head coach pitch invading!

4: SHOT OF THE SEASON...Any of Isaacs in the first few games.

5:FUNNIEST MOMENT OF THE SEASON...Now theres a few of these, where do i start??
The mud match which was just fantastic, wanna play again sooon!
Watching Helen running onto the pitch when there was a player down just to see her run off again as by the time she got there, he had grown a beard and we'd all gone home for tea!
Jubeds own goal.
Patryks diving!
Belinda driving all the way home to fetch her makeup!
Paul Conneally nearly falling over whilst running the line.
Although all of these could be beat in the last two games if we can just get Ed to swear!

6: MOST IMPROVED PLAYER OF THE SEASON...

Rob
Dan
Joe
Adam
Jabed
Jubed
Mikey
Patryk
Isaac
Luke
Alex
Jack
Jack
John
Woody
Sam
Noddy
Toby
Josh
Andrew
Phil
And anyone else out of the whole squad that i failed to mention!

7: REFEREEING DISPLAY OF THE SEASON: Stretton Eagles away! NO CONTEST!

Roll on Saturday week, am really not looking forward to no matches over the summer...lets hope it rains n i get to play in the mud!!
