Emmanuel made it eighteen games and just one defeat so far this season as they clinched another vital three points against a battling Destiny outfit in the Derby City Football League. The church club began well but it was Destiny who got the first shot on target, but Day held well. It did, though, prove to be Destiny's only shot on goal as thereafter Emmanuel took increasing control of the game with Large beginning to boss midfield and Riman and co. looking increasingly solid at the back. Emmanuel's opening goal came from a superb Smithson free kick which Aning headed home imperiously. Soon after that Walker cross-shot hit the bar before another shot was handled on the line and Walker slotted home the penalty. At half-time Cole came on for Schad and began immediately to make excellent progress down the left flank as Emmanuel began to get their passing game going. And it was a five-pass-move that led to Walker crashing the ball home for goal number three. The fourth goal came from Allard who got his just reward for his tireless and intelligent running up front when he slotted home a straight-forward chance. The fifth goal came from Smithson who drilled the ball superbly past the Destiny keeper. Aning then hit the bar with a fine header and the Destiny keeper saved brilliantly from first Sweet and then Lewis. Finally, goal number six came from the lively Taylor who was one of four more substitutes used as Emmanuel rang the changes. One of the four was wingman Woodward who was desperately unlucky not to score when he latched on to a fine Lewis cross only to see his goal-bound shot strike an Emmanuel back.
Day; Sharp (c) (Eccleston), Arme, Riman, Schad (Cole); Walker (Woodward), Sweet, Large, Smithson (Lewis); Aning (Taylor), Allard.
