Emmanuel extended their unbeaten league an cup run to twelve matches as they clinched their first ever league win against Belper Town. The game began with Emmanuel on top and they duly took the lead through a fine long-range strike from Sweet. Emmanuel could and should have added to their lead but then allowed Belper back into the game as, despite a superb save from keeper Day, the ball was bundled over the line after Emmanuel had failed to deal with a corner. However, with Smithson and Cole combining well on the left and Sharp working well with Pownall on the right Emmanuel continued to create chances and finally Walker's cross-cum-shot flew into the net to give Emmanuel a half-time lead The second half began with a terrific passage of passing football in which Emmanuel scored two top-class goals. The first involved several players before Pownall in the right pulled the ball back for the onrushing Sweet to score from the edge of the box. Minutes later Allard finished coolly after an excellent through ball from Schad. Emmanuel did then relax a little to allow Belper to make it 4-2 and for a while Emmanuel looked to Arme and Riman and Cole to be as strong as ever at the back, but Emmanuel then sealed the game as first Aning scored from a corner and then Allard's pace and cool finishing produced goal number six.
Day; Sharp(c), Arme, Riman, Cole (Eccleston); Pownall, Schad, Sweet, Smithson (Allard); Aning, Walker (Lewis). Watkiss.
