UNDER 16's MATCH REPORT: LEFC 3 - 0 Destiny

Emmanuel kept themselves in the top three of the Derby City League as they overcome a battling Destiny outfit. With the wind at their backs Emmanuel began brightly, they then stuttered for a while which meant that Day, Riman and co. at the back had to be on their toes. However, Emmanuel were soon on top again and firing in shots and headers from all angles, but somehow the ball would just not go in. Indeed, in this phase alone Emmanuel hit the woodwork three times, most dramatically through a fine Cole cross-shot and a towering header from centre-half Arme. Finally, however, with just minutes to go before the break Walker finally pierced the Destiny defence as he used his strength to turn and fire in an unstoppable shot. The second half saw Emmanuel again dominating despite playing against the wind and they soon got the all important second goal as Aning, fed nicely by the excellent Pownall, produced an exquisite turn before stroking the ball into the corner of the net. With Lewis and Smithson combining to great effect down the left and man-of-match Large pulling the strings in midfield, Emmanuel looked likely to extend their lead and twice more hit the woodwork. However, they finally sealed the win as Woodward and Walker exchanged passes beautifully before setting up the onrushing Sharp who crashed the ball into the far corner from the edge of the box. Emmanuel can and will play even better but they continue to make good progress. .
