UNDER 11's MATCH REPORT: MICKLEOVER 8 - 0 LEFC

I've eventually come out from behind the sofa to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard)...

...a game of 2 halves:

We lost the first one 4-nil and were lucky to get the nil. We struggled to get out of our own half and were defensively chaotic.

We lost the second half 4-nil but played some good football, had enough chances to score three or four and only let the last 3 goals in during the final 10 minutes when fatigue had taken over.

We only had 12 players available and every player deserves credit. They never gave up.
Special mentions:

Robbie - made the longest covering run of the season (from the half way line) to get in a goal saving tackle.

Kirk - (man of the match) sublimely composed on the ball. I have not seen a better passer of the ball in any of the opposition teams.

Nass - tireless running and ferocious tackling. When we work out his best position and he learns to stay there we'll have another good player on our hands.

Anupam (substitute of the week). When you're the only substitute your chances of winning this award increase somewhat ... But...Anupam made some decent saves and his quick release of the ball created chances for our forwards.

Taslim (special skills award). We've known for some time that Tas has a trick or two in his boots but he made his biggest impact on a game so far with some good passes to his teammates.

James - again, good to see him looking to find his teammates with his passes. Well done

Team Morale: Resilient

Manager's state of mind: Let's not go there

Where are we at?

The statistics make ugly reading - Scored 2, conceded 56. The fixture computer has been seriously cruel. We've played the best side in the league twice and the second and third best once. And things don't get any easier - our next 3 matches are all away from home against the top four teams.

But we have potential. We have good players and if we can organise ourselves better and maintain our spirit things will get better in the second half of the season.
