UNDER 16'S MATCH REPORT: Sherwin FC 0 - 2 LEFC Under 16's

Emmanuel opened their Derby City League campaign with an accomplished away win against a very good Sherwin outfit. Emmanuel had the best of the opening exchanges but then Sherwin came back into the game to draw a fine save from Day in the Emmanuel goal. Emmanuel then began to get in top with Large and Schad now dominating in midfield; soon a string of chances came Emmanuel's way and they very nearly took the lead through first Sharp, then Aning, and finally Arme whose header flew just past the post. It was, though, Allard who got the opening goal as he latched superbly onto a lovely pass from Walker before rounding the keeper to slot home. Emmanuel took this one-goal advantage into the second half and, with first Woodward and then Lewis lively on the wings, created yet more chances but it took a sensational 25-yard volley from Walker to seal the victory - an early contender for the goal of the season. Sherwin did threaten once or twice in the closing stages but Riman, Eccleston and Cole were superb in defence.
