UNDER 11's MATCH REPORT: EMMANUEL 1 - 8 CODNOR BOYS

After last week's 17-0 mauling, we didn't know quite what to expect this time round. With Taslim and Matthew working down the flanks and Bradley and Robbie running their socks off in midfield, Emmanuel created a number of openings and Kieron made history 10 minutes into the match, becoming the first Emmanuel Under 11's player ever to score a competitive goal. With half time within touching distance a cruel piece of bad luck turned the course of the match. The ref blew his whistle and the obedient Emmanuel defence stopped playing. The only problem was that the ref in question was on the neighbouring pitch. Codnor ignored the whistle and ran on to score. A shell shocked Emmanuel capitulated and conceded 2 more in the next 4 minutes.
The second half was hard work as the visitors started to dominate. James and Cedrick put in strong performances at full back as Sajid and Richard laboured in the heart of the defence. Kirk and Kieron faded in the second half and Aurel, Thomas and Nas were unable to impose themselves in midfield.
Sajid got the special skills award for some critical clearances, Anupam won the man of the match award for some good saves and Cedrick and James shared the substitute of the week award.

Nevermind lads. If you lose, you lose. Everyone will be proud. :)

Exactly Rob. If you give 100% and leave everything on the pitch you can't do anything more. Just remember what good players you all are and when it clicks you're gonna give someone a real good thrashing. Learn from every game.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. We'll regroup and try again. There have been some promising aspects in both games so far - just a case of bringing that together. The return of midfield meastro Ahmed Al-jaf should also help. Watch this speace...
