MATCH REPORT: UNDER 16's: EMMANUEL 0 - 3 DERBY SINGH BROTHERS

Emmanuel lost out against a powerful Singh team but knew that they had played well and did not have the rub of the green. Singh began really strongly and could easily have taken the lead were it not for a great block-save from Day and a goal-saving tackle from Riman. Emmanuel then came back well as Large began to dominate in midfield. During this spell Walker was hugely impressive as was Lewis (on for the injured Smithson) wide on the left. However, with the game on a knife-edge, a freak mix-up in the Emmanuel defence gifted Singh the opener and Emmanuel went into the half-time break unlucky to be one-down. This soon became three-down following two more Singh goals. After that it was always going to be hard to chase the game in the heat, particularly when Schad limped off. However, with Sharp adding dynamism to the midfield and Woodward and Maksymiw working hard up front, Emmanuel were unlucky not to get a goal back, coming nearest through Walker whose great volley on the turn was too hot to hold for the Singh keeper, but no-ne one was there to knock in the rebound.
