After a slow start, not helped by the late arrival of the opposition, Emmanuel gradually began to find their rhythm against a team who look scared after 2 successive defeats. It was important for Emmanuel to take the lead and so they did mid-way into the first half when Paisley's long goal kick cleared the Darley defence and Joe Conneally slid the ball across for John Parton who slotted the ball home in his usual relaxed fashion. Parton ran the Darley defence ragged all morning and would have helped himself to more goals had the assistant referee not been flag happy on the far side.
Emmanuel, still looking a little cagey, scored the second just before half time and what a goal it was! Captain Awesome Isaac Timson took control of a clearance, set himself, then lashed the ball over the helpless Darley goalkeeper from 30 yards. 2-0 and looking strong.
The second half saw Emmanuel dominate and the introduction of skillful forward Alex Bucknor only added to the Darley woe. With the defence solid, typified by man of the match Daniel Callan who won everything, gave no ground and looked inspired, and the midfield trio of Jabed, Timson and Trebski looking dynamic Emmanuel bagged another 3 goals. Bucknor grabbed 2 with powerful running in behind the Darley back 4 and was unlucky not to complete his hat-trick when the keeper just got a foot to the ball. The 5th was scored by Tourki who found himself through 1 v 1 with the keeper. Tourki put the game to bed with an accomplished finish into the roof of the net. Darley had earlier got a consolation to make it 4-1 but it was little more than that in a game that the opposition will want to forget quickly.
So, the first of many Emmanuel wins. The realisation that they are good team who can match anybody on their day will bring about greater confidence and the elation of winning is something that the team will without doubt want to experience on a more regular basis. Things will only get harder from now on however, as the opposition will now know that Emmanuel are the real deal, a team with quality players, a team who fights for everything and a team who knows how to win. Bring on the challengers!
Goals: Parton, Timson, Bucknor (2), Tourki
Man of the Match: Daniel Callan.

COME ON EMMANUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortuanatly i missed the first half & some of the second as i was at the under 11's game in quorn but what i did see in the second half was absolutley amazing right through the team. From the keeper, the back four through the midfield to the attack, it was a fantastic team performance that justified the scoreline. Special mention to Adam who ran in for a sliding tackle & cleanly took the ball whilst upending the opposing player. The best tackle ive seen an Emmanuel player make! True grit that showed throughout the team. Long may it continue through the season lads, there will be a lot of tough matches but you have the attitude & quality to come through them all.
Very well done to you all, we are very proud & yes i did see Ed smile at one stage!
Too right, we were awesome. Adams tackle was great, couldn't find on the video, will have another look. Daniel made an amazing tackle too after chasing 30 yards after the player. It's on the video!
